I was born in Weston, Ontario, October 15th, 1954, at the height of Hurricane Hazel.
This whirlwind entry into the world might also explain my work history. Besides writing I have also worked as a dishwasher, farm labourer, soldier, movie extra, youth outreach worker, armoured truck guard, men’s shelter manager, martial arts instructor, supply teacher, resort chef and stay-at-home parent. As a reviewer for Canadian Book Review Annual and editor of Canadian Children’s Books, I have reviewed more than 1,000 books. http://pages.interlog.com/~cbra/. I am now the food editor at Canadian Health magazine http://www.canadian-health.ca/.
Over the past 30 years, I have been published in many magazines and newspapers including Toronto Life, Chatelaine, Canadian Family, Canadian Living, Harrowsmith, Healthwatch, Legion Magazine, Rotunda, the Objibwa Times, Black Belt Magazine, Cottage Life, The Antigonish Review, the New Quarterly, the Toronto Star, the Globe and Mail, the Toronto Sun and quite a few others.
My main areas of expertise are humour, cooking, history, travel and family interests.
